What is happening in the yoghurts market
The market for yoghurts and chilled desserts sits at the crossroads of pleasure, health and convenience. Long an everyday category, it has become a way to indulge without excess, at a time when consumers want both comfort and budget control.
Yoghurts and chilled desserts are no longer limited to the end of a meal: they appear at breakfast, as a snack or even as a meal replacement. Innovation focuses on more natural recipes, high protein or probiotics, and new sensory experiences.
The market faces competition from ice cream as an indulgent alternative, pressure on production costs, and rising expectations around transparency, origin and sustainability. Consumers want to know what they are eating, where ingredients come from and how products are made.
Indulgence is still king of the chilled aisle
Even though health and naturalness guide most choices, taste remains the first purchase criterion. Consumers want pleasure products that offer comfort at any time of day, and brands are working on creamier recipes, multiple textures (coulis, chips, crunch, mousse) and more intense or original flavour combinations.
Fruit-rich strawberry, peach and mango yoghurts
A range made with 50% fruit pulp for a more intense experience: strawberry as the comforting classic, peach for its soft, generous profile, and mango as the modern, exotic flavour winning more consumers.
Hazelnut roll flavoured rice pudding
A Christmas 2025 dessert inspired by hazelnut rolls, combining the sweetness of milk with a fragrant hazelnut preparation.
Yoghurt shifts into performance mode
Protein yoghurt fits consumers' demand for healthy, convenient and nutritious products. Yoghurt is now seen as an ally of well-being and performance, and since COVID-19 the focus on nutrition has intensified. Launches of high-protein yoghurts, drinkable and spoonable, keep increasing, and the trend extends to plant-based yoghurts, with protein content at the heart of brand communication.

A new strawberry recipe with 11 g of complete protein, all 9 essential amino acids, plus magnesium and vitamin B9.
Plant-based: a territory of responsible innovation
Plant-based alternatives made from soy, oats, coconut or almonds are multiplying, with more indulgent and better balanced recipes enriched with protein, calcium or vitamins, and lactose-free and vegan claims. Taste and texture remain the main obstacles, pushing manufacturers towards more indulgent recipes and simple ingredients.
Oat and soy yoghurts and milks for kids in chocolate, strawberry and vanilla
A plant-based range for children, enriched with calcium and vitamins, with up to 30% less sugar, lactose-free and additive-free.
Yoghurt, the new ally of gut health
Gut health is a growing priority for European consumers, who now see yoghurt as a functional food. Thanks to probiotics and beneficial bacteria, yoghurt is a simple, natural way to support gut flora and overall well-being.
High-fibre kiwi and whole grains yoghurt

From Paris-Brest to Snickers: yoghurt reinvents the classics
In France, a strong trend is combining biscuits, pastries and chocolate bars with yoghurts and chilled desserts.
Paris-Brest, Framboisier and tiramisu desserts
The Liégeois Pâtissier range revisits classic French desserts: Paris-Brest (praline cream), Framboisier (raspberry layer cake) and tiramisu, with generous whipped cream.
